Fair Use Policy

This Fair Use Policy applies to all Rivnet unlimited data internet plans. Our goal is to provide excellent service to all customers while ensuring network performance remains optimal for everyone.
1. What is Fair Use?
"Unlimited data" means you can use the internet for typical residential or business purposes without worrying about data caps. Fair use refers to normal, reasonable usage that doesn't negatively impact other customers on the network.
Fair use includes:
- Web browsing, email, and standard office applications
- Video streaming, video conferencing, and VoIP calls
- Cloud backup and file transfers
- Software updates and downloads
- Social media and online gaming
- Normal business operations and customer-facing services
2. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are not considered fair use:
- Commercial Resale: Reselling or redistributing your internet service to others for profit
- Public Servers: Running publicly accessible servers (web, game, file servers) unless you have a specific business plan that permits this
- Excessive Automated Downloading: Using automated tools to continuously download large amounts of data 24/7
- Network Abuse: Activities that consume excessive bandwidth and degrade service quality for other users
- Proxy/VPN Services: Operating commercial proxy or VPN services for public use
3. Network Management
To ensure fair access for all customers, we reserve the right to:
- Traffic Management: Apply traffic shaping or prioritization during peak network congestion periods
- Speed Management: Temporarily reduce speeds for connections engaging in extreme usage that impacts network performance
- Usage Investigation: Contact you if we detect unusual usage patterns to understand your needs and find appropriate solutions
Network management is applied fairly and transparently. We will contact you before taking any action that significantly affects your service.
4. What Happens if Fair Use is Exceeded?
If we identify usage that violates this Fair Use Policy:
- First Contact: We will contact you to discuss your usage and work with you to find a solution
- Alternative Solutions: We may recommend a different plan or service tier better suited to your needs
- Temporary Measures: If usage continues to impact other customers, we may apply temporary speed restrictions
- Suspension: In extreme cases of ongoing abuse, we may suspend service until the issue is resolved
- Termination: Repeated or severe violations may result in service termination
5. Business and High-Usage Customers
If your business requires higher-than-typical usage (such as running servers, large-scale cloud operations, or data-intensive applications), please contact us. We can work with you to:
- Assess your specific needs
- Recommend appropriate service tiers
- Create custom solutions that ensure your requirements are met without impacting other customers
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Fair Use Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on our website, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
